Angeline Drinan

Angeline Drinan is a Sydney based artist and founder of Angeline Drinan Studio.

Angeline has been making art for 27 years both commercially and privately. She graduated from the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) Dublin with a BA in Fine Art / Sculpture.

Relocating from Europe to Australia to work in the film industry as a scenic artist and set finisher, Angeline worked on films such as The Matrix and Star Wars, this allowed her to explore her fascination with large scale art projects. This influenced her decision to work with Opera Australia as head of the Scenic Art department for 13 years. Angeline worked collaboratively with renowned Australian and international designers on productions such as La Boheme, Tosca, Carmen and La Traviata.

Durning this time Angeline also taught scenic art and props painting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).

Angeline has recently decided to set up her own creative studio to explore the possibilities of creating large scale art works and painted decorative finishes for commercial and private interior spaces as well as stage and screen.

Most recently Angeline has been working on The Fall Guy designed by David Scheunemann and art directed by Charlie Revai . 2022-2023

While acrylic water based paints can be the most practicable solution for large scale interior work, Angeline loves to experiment with different mediums including inks, chalks, cement render, raw pigments, dyes and oil paints

Angeline Drinan Studio

Angeline Drinan studio was set up as a creative agency specialising in the design and production of large scale art works for interior designers, architectural companies, the film industry and stage productions.

We specialise in concept design, set finishing for the film industry, scenic art and backdrops for performing arts companies.

We offer a specialised service to help clients visualise their ideas in situ with digital concepts in 2D and 3D. This helps clients move more easily through the process of feedback and revision

We also offer the option of designing original artworks and printing onto raw canvas in any size, an example of which can be seen on the ceiling of the Imperial Hotel Erskineville. “The gay sistine chapel” commissioned by Alexander & Co. With a very limited lead time, we stumbled across this practical solution to ensure the opening went as scheduled.

Core to our philosophy is an ability to move with versatility through clients expectations. Collaboration is key to our process.
